Athyrium niponicum 'Pewter Lace' Fern

Athyrium niponicum 'Pewter Lace', commonly known as Japanese painted fern, is an evergreen fern with finely divided, delicate fronds that display a striking mix of silver, green, and purple tones. The arching foliage forms a low, spreading mound, adding both texture and colour to shaded garden areas.

Although non-flowering, this fern provides shelter and microhabitats for small invertebrates, contributing to woodland and shaded garden biodiversity. Its low-maintenance habit and striking foliage make it ideal for woodland borders, shaded rock gardens, and underplanting beneath shrubs or trees.
